Al Ahly has completed the signing of Egypt international Ahmed Sayed, popularly known as Zizo.
He joins from Zamalek, Al Ahly’s main rivals, in what is considered one of the most controversial African transfers of all time.
Zamalek had been keen to extend Zizo’s contract but failed to reach an agreement, leading to the player’s departure on a free transfer. The club has accused both Zizo and Al Ahly of violating transfer regulations through premature negotiations.
The 29-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Al Ahly and is set to join his new teammates for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
