Newcastle came into this game hoping to continue there good form they have been brilliant all season and a win would have put them in the right direction in achieving there aim of a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in 20 years. Eddie Howe’s men lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, Nick Pope was in goal, Fabian Schär and Sven Botman played at the center of defense, Bruno Guimarães was in the middle of the pack and Callum Wilson led the line.
Mikel Arterta’s men lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, Aaron Ramsdale was in between the sticks, Gabriel and Kiwior were at the center of defense, Jorginho was in the middle of the pack and Gabriel Jesus led the line. The big news was Thomas Partey was left on the bench and French international William Saliba was still out due to injury.
Mikel Ødegaard continued his great form in front of goal as he put Arsenal ahead in the 14th minute he was assisted by Jorginho, the first half was very entertaining as both sides had their chances both goalkeepers were at their best, Ramsdale and Pope made some brilliant saves.
The second half just had one goal in it and it was as a result of a costly own goal by Fabian Schär the second half wasn’t as lively as the first half but it was enough for Arsenal to keep the three points and have a clean sheet.
A win today keeps the title race alive as they are one point off League leaders and Champions Manchester City, Arsenal will Brighton next and would have to be at their best to get the three points.
It was a disappointing result for Newcastle, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven matches, they would face Leeds United next and would have to be at their very best.
