Aston Villa came from a goal down to defeat Spurs via two-goals to one.

Coming into this game Spurs were hoping to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The last time this sides met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Aston Villa were two-nil winners.

Unai Emery made two changes at the start of the second half Youri Tielemans replaced Diaby and Bailey replaced Cash, Watkins kept Aston Villa ahead for the first time in the game in the 61st minute, Youri Tielemans made an impact off the bench, he was the provider. Aston Villa went close to equalizing seven minutes later but Johnson was denied by Martinez, Tottenham came close again to equalizing in the 73rd minute but this time Martinez had to pull a double stop to deny Johnson and Hojbjerg's follow-up. Son thought he had equalized for Spurs in the 85th minute but the goal was ruled out for offside, Spurs had two goals canceled before this.

The result meant Spurs had lost three Premier League games in a row and have dropped to fifth place in the Premier League, things are becoming sour for Spurs boss, Ange Postecoglou. They face Manchester City next and will need to be at their best to get back to winning ways.

The result meant Aston Villa moved into the top four places and have won eight of their last ten games in all competitions. Unai Emery is doing a great job at Aston Villa, when he took the job 13 months ago Villa was in the bottom half, the Villa faithful should be proud of how far this man has come with their team.
