
Aston Villa ran riot against Newcastle they trashed Newcastle by three goals to nil

Aston Villa came into this game on the back of a good run of results being undefeated in seven Premier League winning six and drawing only one, Aston villa knew a win would take them three points off the UEFA Champions League places and they were determined to put it another remarkable performance this game win. Unai Emery lined his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, world cup winner Dibu Martinez was in between the sticks and the inform Ollie Watkins led the line.
Newcastle came into this game having picked maximum points in there last five games, Newcastle have had the best defense in the league and have had most goalless draws six more than any other side they needed a win to put them six points above 5th place Spurs. Eddie Howe’s side lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, England international Nick Pope led the line, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar maintained there excellent partnership at the center of the Newcastle’s defence, Bruno Guimarães was in the middle of the pack and Alexander Isak led the line and the big news was Callum Wilson was left on the bench and replaced by Anthony Gordon.
Aston Villa dominated the first half and created majority of the chances and it showed as they got off to a quick start in the first half as Jacob Ramsey’s 11th minute goal gave Villa the lead, they could have doubled there lead but were not clinical in front of goal, Newcastle struggled to get a foot on the game and they struggled to create any real chances it was a poor display for Newcastle in the first halftime, Newcastle only created one chance which felt to Isak and he was denied by Martinez.
Aston villa were far superior in the 2nd half as Aston Villa scored two more goals it was a brilliant performance from Watkins who almost got a hattrick but one of his goals was canceled by VAR, Villa was so good in the 2nd half that Newcastle could not keep up with the pace of there attack , Newcastle didn’t threaten the Villa’s defence and was poor at the back.
The win takes Villa to three points of the top four places, they have played two games more than 5th place Spurs, this is the first time in 24 years Aston Villa would win five Premier League games in a row the last manager that accomplished this was John Gregory. They will face Brentford next week Saturday and will hope to keep there winning streak going.
The performance was an unacceptable performance from Newcastle and will need to be at best when they face Spurs, there will be for error as the game could determine the outcome of the season.
