Barcelona closing in on Wojciech Szczesny's contract extension.

Barcelona has opened talks with Szczesny over a new deal that would see him stay beyond this season. He was brought out of retirement when Barça signed him as a replacement for the injured Marc-André ter Stegen. However, his impressive performances have earned him the trust of everyone at the club, especially Hansi Flick.

Szczesny has been between the sticks 16 times for Barça this season, keeping eight clean sheets.

His contract extension could see Iñaki Peña depart, as the Blaugrana have not tabled a renewal offer for him. The Spaniard's contract expires in 2026, and he has offers from Celtic, Galatasaray, and Real Betis.

Barça might be tempted to sell the goalkeeper to make a profit.
