German journalist Tobi Altschäffl reports that Bayern Munich has begun talks to extend Eric Dier’s contract.
Initially, the 31-year-old was expected to leave when his deal expires in the summer. However, after a series of strong performances and the club’s defensive injury crisis—with Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies sidelined long-term—Bayern is now looking to extend his stay.
Dier has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season. With Upamecano set to return before the season ends and Davies set to return next season ,it remains unclear whether he will be the club’s fourth or fifth-choice center-back. His role could also depend on whether Bayern signs another defensive reinforcement in the summer.
