
Borussia Dortmund defeated Atletico Madrid five-four on aggregate to qualify for the semi-final of the UCL for the first time in 11 years.

German side Borussia Dortmund came from behind to defeat Spanish side Atletico Madrid four-two on the night, to qualify for the semi-final five-four on aggregate. Marcel Sabitzer scored the goal that took Borussia Dortumd to the semi-final.
BVB needed an early goal to get the home fans behind them, and they did that thanks to Julian Brandt’s 34th-minute strike. They took the lead five minutes through Ian Maatsen.
Atletico Madrid drew level three minutes into the start of the second half through Mats Hummels’ own goal, with Atletico Madrid’s coach, Diego Simeone’s halftime change playing a key role.
There was more to come as Angel Correa put Atletico Madrid ahead for the first time in the game, to the delight of the away fans. But that didn’t bring BVB’s morale down. After Atletico Madrid’s goal, Borussia Dortumd kept attacking and found a way back into the game courtesy of Niclas Fullkrug’s beautiful header in the 71st minute, before Austrian international Marcel Sabitzer’s mind-blowing strike gave Dortumd the winner.
It was a glorious night for Boruss”a Dortumd as they qualified for the top tier of the semi-final of the European football competition for the first time since 2013. Borussia Dortumd legend Mario Gotze was the happiest among the Borussia Dortumd players, as he was part of the Dortumd side that made it to the Champions League final in 2013.
Borussia Dortumd face PSG in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, with the first leg set to take place on the 13th of April in the Signal Iduna Park, while the second leg Will take place on the 7th of May in the Parc des Princes.
