The Confederation Africaine de Football held a Zoom meeting recently with the technical staff of all twenty four teams ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations set to take place in Morocco from Sunday 21 December 2025 to Sunday 18 January 2026.
Things discussed in the meeting included visas for officials, training camps, team hotels, media and marketing, doping and medical regulations, behaviour with referees and matters regarding commerce.
CAF laid down the rules to maintain fairness and order. These rules include the registration of twenty eight players from a preliminary squad of fifty five, with seventeen members of staff. Teams are allowed to arrive five days before the tournament to enable effective preparation. Clubs must release players by December 8, and this is compulsory for European clubs as it is a rule established by FIFA. The Local Organizing Committee, which is responsible for organising and managing all logistics for the event including team transportation, will provide full transportation support from five days before the first match until twenty four hours after each team’s final game.
The team delegation asked for additional seating for coaches, especially behind the team benches, to allow them to analyse matches properly. They also requested strict security and privacy around team hotels to prevent fans from interfering with the players, particularly during busy periods or training sessions.
AFCON 2025 preparation is progressing swiftly and properly on the part of Morocco, CAF and all participating countries. Stadiums are ready, including Grand Stade de Tanger, Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier, Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Adrar Stadium in Agadir, Marrakesh Stadium in Marrakesh and Fez Stadium in Fez. Tickets have been sold out, media accreditations are nearly completed and countries have submitted their preliminary squads and are preparing to present their final squads for the tournament. It promises to be one of the best AFCON editions in history.
