FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Key Rules and Preparations for the Upcoming Tournament

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to begin next summer in the United States, will showcase 32 top football clubs from across the globe. To maintain competitive fairness, FIFA has introduced several key regulations for participating teams.

One of the primary rules is that each club must field its strongest lineup. Any team that withdraws from the tournament could face a substantial fine of £445,000. Additionally, FIFA has implemented ownership restrictions to prevent conflicts of interest—club owners are prohibited from holding shares in more than one participating team.

To ensure proper preparation, clubs are required to arrive at their designated base camp 3-5 days before their first match. Each team can name a provisional squad of 26-50 players, with the final tournament squad limited to 26-35 players.

A special transfer window has been arranged to allow clubs flexibility with their squads. From June 1 to June 10, 2025, national football associations will open a dedicated transfer window. Additionally, teams can make limited squad adjustments between June 27 and July 3, 2025, under specific conditions.

Eligibility rules state that players can only represent one team throughout the tournament, and special replacement provisions will address any contracts that expire mid-competition. With matches scheduled across 12 host venues, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is set to offer an exciting spectacle for fans worldwide.
