Luke Littler beat Michael van Gerwen to become the youngest Dart World Champion in history.
Luke Littler won by a staggering 7-3. He became the youngest in the history of the sport to win a Dart World Championship title. The three-time World Champion, Michael van Gerwen, threatened a comeback when he won three sets in a row, but Luke Littler held his nerve and won four more.
It was the second consecutive World Championship final for the 17-year-old. Since losing last year’s final to Luke Humphries, he has gone on to win 10 Dart Championships, so the World Championship win was the icing on the cake.
After the win, Luke Littler told Sky Sports that he wants to celebrate the victory by parading the trophy at Old Trafford. “If they allow me to, then I am sure I will go to Old Trafford,” he added.
“I am glad I beat Stephen in the semi-final because I am pretty sure he was taking it to Anfield on the weekend.”
Luke Littler has already built a legacy for himself in the sport as the greatest teenager to ever play the game.
