
Manchester City ran riot against Liverpool, they trashed Liverpool by four goals to one.

Both sides came into this game hoping to get the three points, Manchester City needed the three points to put pressure on Arsenal at the top and Liverpool needed to win to keep their top-four hopes alive.
Pep Guardiola lined up his Manchester City’s side in a 3-24-1 formation. Ederson was in goal, Nathan Ake started at centre-back after an impressive display with Netherland during the international break, Kevin De Bruyne started in the middle of the park, world cup winner Julián Álvarez led the attack. Haaland was in the stands, he missed the match due to a groin injury.
Jürgen Klopp lined up his side in a 4-3-3 formation Allison was in between the sticks, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahim Konate was in defence, City level ten minutes later, Fabinho was in the middle of the park and Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah led the attack. Liverpool drew first blood in the 17th minute through Salah, he was assisted by Cody Gakpo. Alvarez drew Manchester City ten minutes later,Grealish puts a low cross into the middle Alvarez taps it in beautifully. The first half ended in a stalemate with both sides having their moments of the half.
Pep Guardiola half time team talk was effective as City had a quick start to life in the second half, De Bruyne put City ahead in the first minute of the second half, Grealish puts a nice cross into the box Allison gets his finger tip to it, it reaches De Bruyne he made no mistake in putting it in the back of the net. Grealish cross was very effective again .
Ikay Gundogan doubled City’s lead in the 53rd minute, it was two goals in seven minutes for Manchester City. Gakpo had the chance of putting Liverpool back in the game in the 55th minute but his shot goes wide.
Klopp made four changes in the 70th minute, Nunez replaced Salah, Roberto Firmino replaced Jota, Konstantinos Tsimikas replaced Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came in for Harvey Elliott . Jack Grealish made matters worse for Liverpool four minutes later, he was assisted by Kevin De Bruyne. Liverpool couldn’t get back into the game as Manchester City was far superior the match ended four goals to one.
The result meant Liverpool are seven points off the top four, they have lost eight Premier League away games this season, the last time they lost eight away games in a season was the 2014- 2015 season . Liverpool face struggling Chelsea next they will need a win to keep their top four hopes alive.
The win against Liverpool saw Pep Guardiola reach a landmark of 100 Premier League home wins, he is the fastest Premier League manager to reach that landmark, the win also saw Manchester City reduce Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to five points. Manchester City face bottom club Southampton next their is no margin for error as they’re expected to pick maximum points.
