Manchester City welcomed Brentford to the Etihad Stadium, coming into this game Man city were the favorites to win the game, the match was Man city’s last match before the FIFA world cup. The referee in charge of the game was David Coote.
Erling Haaland was back into the starting line up after he was rested against Chelsea in EFL cup, Ivan Toney scored opener of the game for Brentford in the 16th minute, Phil Foden gave Man city a way back into the game just before the end of first half.
Neither Brentford or Napoli could get another goal, until the 98th minute when Toney won the game for Brentford, Brentford hit city on a fast break as Wissa and DaSilva combine, DaSilva powers a low ball across the face of goal, Toney steers into the back of the net on his right foot from six yards.
Ivan Toney could have scored a hattrick in the very last minute of the game but the ball was cleared off the line by De Bruyne; Ivan Toney’s performance against Man city sends strong message to England and Southgate after being left out of the world cup
This is just the second match Haaland failed to score in the Premier league, Manchester City failed to take the opportunity to move up on the Premier League table. Arsenal will play wolves tomorrow and with a win they will go five points clear against Man city. Man city will return to action on the 20th of December and they will take on Liverpool in the EFL CUP, they will return to Premier League action against Leeds united on December 28th.
