Manchester United's two-nil win over Everton puts them 3rd and three points above fifth place Spurs

Manchester United came into this game with a good home record having won 23 of their 28 home games in all competitions this season making Old Trafford a fortress again, Manchester United were looking to defeat Everton for the third time this season Man United was the favorite coming into this game but knew they had to be at their best if they were going to get the three points against a very resolute, compact and defensive Everton side. Eric Ten Hag made a big call as Raphael Varane was dropped from the starting line up and Wout Weghorst was dropped for the second game in a row. The big news for Manchester United and everyone associated with the club was Christian Eriksen was back in the squad for the first time after sustaining that unfortunate ankle injury. Manchester united lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation the irreplaceable David De Gea was in goal, Harry Maguire came in for Raphael Varane and Marcus Rashford led the line.

Everton came into this game as the underdogs but were hoping to come up with something spectacular as they were fighting for their lives, Sean Dyche has breathe in confidence back into this Everton side and has picked up 12 points from a possible 27 points. Everton lined up in a 4-4-2 formation England international Jordan Pickford was in goal, James Tarkowski and Michael Keane were in defence, Iwobi played at right midfield he has played the highest number of games for Everton this season and is a player that is high in confidence and Ellis Simms started for Everton for the second game running.

Manchester united dominated the first half, United had majority of the ball, Man united had 21 shots Manchester united could only get one goal in the first half which came in the 36th-minute courtesy of Mc Tominay Manchester United could have been far ahead but Pickford put in a breathtaking performance, he made five saves it was a one-man defence for Everton. Everton only had one chance in the first half which fell to Simms but his effort went wide.

Anthony wrapped up the win for Manchester United in the 71st minute of the second half after coming off the bench in the 60th minute he was assisted by Marcus Rashford, the assist takes Rashford's goal contribution to 39 goals and assists this season. Rashford was substituted in the 81st minute because of what looked like a groin injury, hopefully the injury is not serious.

The win took Manchester United to 3rd place three points above Newcastle and Spurs, Manchester united would welcome Sevilla to Old Trafford on Thursday and would face Nottingham Forest next in the Premier League. Everton would pick in positive from the game and would come back stronger they face Fulham next and will hope to get something out of the game.
