Sadiq Umaru, phenomenal strike made the difference as RealSociedad defeated Sevilla two-one.

The last time these sides met in Laliga Real Sociedad won. Real Sociedad came into this game in fine form losing only once in ten games. Real Sociedad boss, Imanol Alguacil lined his side in a 4-2-2 formation with Alex Remiro in between the sticks, Igor Zubeldia and Robin Le Normand at the center of defense, Mikel Merino and Martín Zubimendi were at the middle of the pack and Umar Sadiq led the line.

Sevilla came into this match with negative results winning one of their last eleven matches, Sevilla lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Marko Dmitrovic in goal, the experienced Sergio Ramos in defense, Ivan Rakitic in the middle of the pack, and Moroccan international, Youssef En-Nesyri led the line.

Real Sociedad made a bright start to the match they went ahead through Barrenetxea's freekick which touched Marko Dmitrovic and entered the post, Sadiq Umar doubled the visitor's lead in the 22nd minute, it was his first goal of the season and in three months and it was a screamer from outside the box, a contender for goal of the season. Mikel Merino thought he won a penalty for Real Sociedad but the referee didn't give it, he felt Merino dived. Real Sociedad dominated the game in the first half, they had the majority of the ball and created the majority of the chances.

Sevilla thought things had gotten better for them when En-Nesyri reduced the deficit but it didn't turn out that way. Sevilla was made to play the game with nine men after Ramos and Jesus Navas were sent off, Ramos was sent off for a dangerous foul on Brais Mendez, and Jesus Navas was sent off for abusing the referee. Sevilla had the majority of the ball in the first half but didn't create enough chances, the Los Nervionenses only had four chances and had only two on target.
