Sir Jim Ratcliffe took over the sporting activities of Manchester United after buying 25% of Manchester United shares, he promised to take the club back to its old glory days, as one of the giants of English, European and World football. Sir Jim would appoint his staff,Jean-Claude Blanc will be announced Manchester United CEO soon and John Murtough will be expected to leave his role at Manchester United., while INEOS chief financial officer John Reece and Sport chairman Rob Nevin are expected to join Manchester United plc board which is responsible for setting transfer budgets. The Glazers still own most shares at Manchester United and will be consulted during full board meetings , transfer budgets and everything concerning the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has shown commitment to the club by writing an open letter to Manchester United supporter's trust and he says“ Dear MUST, I wanted to write to you at this time given the critical role of the fans to the future of Manchester United as we recognise our responsibility as custodians of the Club on your behalf.
I believe we can bring sporting success on the pitch to complement the undoubted commercial success that the club has enjoyed. It will require time and patience alongside rigour and the highest level of professional management.
You are ambitious for Manchester United and so are we. There are no guarantees in sport, and change can inevitably take time but we are in it for the long term and together we want to help take Manchester United back to where the club belongs, at the very top of English, European and World Football. I take that responsibility very seriously.
Please note that, as with any deal, it is subject to the usual regulatory sign-off process and therefore we do not expect to speak publicly about Club matters until after the deal has completed”.
The letter shows the 71 year old is committed to bringing the old glory days back but it’s still early days only time will tell.
