
The End of an Era: Carlo Ancelotti to Manage His Final Game as Real Madrid Coach at the Santiago Bernabéu

Carlo Ancelotti will manage his final game as Real Madrid's manager at the Santiago Bernabéu today, 24th May 2025, against Real Sociedad.
The Italian tactician has spent six years at Real Madrid across two stints, winning 15 trophies with the club, including three UEFA Champions League titles.
Ancelotti has decided to step down from his role as Real Madrid’s head coach, as both parties had been considering a change. He is set to be announced as the new head coach of the Brazil national team in less than a week, while Xabi Alonso is expected to take over at the helm of Real Madrid.
Ancelotti posted an emotional farewell message on his Instagram handle a day before the match. The statement reads:
“Today we go separate ways again. Today again I take in my heart every moment lived in this wonderful second stage as Real Madrid coach. It’s been unforgettable years, an incredible journey full of emotions, titles, and above all, the pride of representing this shield.
Thanks to President Florentino Pérez, the club, my players, my staff, and especially to this unique fanbase that has always made me feel like one of them. What we have achieved together will remain forever in the memory of Madridism — not only for the triumphs but for the way we achieved them.
The magic nights of the Bernabéu are now part of football history. Now a new adventure begins, but my bond with Real Madrid is eternal. See you soon, Madridistas. Hala Madrid and Nothing Else.”
Across his two periods at the club, Ancelotti won an incredible 15 titles, making him the most decorated coach in Real Madrid’s history.
Los Blancos paid tribute to Ancelotti in an official statement:
"Real Madrid CF and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement to end his tenure as Real Madrid manager. Our club wishes to express its gratitude and affection to one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid and world football."
Club president Florentino Pérez also praised Ancelotti, saying:
"He is now forever part of the great Real Madrid family. We are proud to have had a coach who not only brought immense success but also embodied the values of our club in an exemplary way."
The club will honour Ancelotti with a tribute after the match against Real Sociedad.
