The Europa League Round of 16 draw is set, with 16 teams left to battle for the prestigious trophy.

The UEFA Europa League draw takes place tomorrow, Friday, 23rd of February. The draw will be held at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, at 12:00 CET. Eight teams qualified by topping their groups. The teams are West Ham United (England), Brighton (England), Liverpool (England), Bayer Leverkusen (Germany), Rangers (Scotland), Atalanta (Italy), Slavia Prague (Czech), and Villarreal (Spain).


Eight other sides had to qualify via playoffs. Sparta Praha recorded a massive upset to qualify for the round of 16, beating Turkish giants Galatasaray by four goals to one in the second leg and winning four-one on aggregate. Qarabag made it through by defeating Braga, one of the third-place teams in the UEFA Champions League. Benfica defeated Toulouse to book their place in the draw. AC Milan beat French side Rennes in a mouth-watering tie to secure a spot in the round of 16. SC Freiburg came from two goals down to secure a historic three-two win against Lens at the Stade Europa-Park and book their place in the draw. Portuguese side Sporting booked their place by defeating Switzerland’s champions Young Boys. French giants Olympique de Marseille defeated Shakhtar Donetsk to advance to the round of 16, in a match that saw one-time African best footballer of the year become the highest goal-scorer in UEFA Europa League history with 31 goals. In Rome, the last two years' UEFA Europa Conference League finalists faced off, with Roma coming out on top with penalties.


The round of 16 promises to be action-packed, with many big names getting involved and the eyes of everyone on the prestigious European trophy. The round of 16 matches will take place on March 7 and 14.
