The Race for Frimpong Heats Up as Dutch International Prepares for Bayer Leverkusen Exit
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Jeremie Frimpong is set for a summer departure from Bayer Leverkusen, with his €40 million release clause becoming active. On his official X account, Plettenberg stated, "Frimpong is still ready for the next step and planning a move in summer. The 24-year-old right wing-back can leave Leverkusen for around €40m in summer."
Frimpong has featured in 40 matches this season, contributing 15 goal involvements—an impressive tally for a right wing-back.
During his time at Leverkusen, he has won three major trophies: the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the DFL-Supercup. He was also included in the 2024 Europa League Team of the Season.
According to TNT Sports, several top clubs—including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool—are interested in signing the Dutch international.
Manchester United appears to be really intentional about the player as the club's hierarchy believes Frimpong would fit Rúben Amorim's philosophy.
