Tottenham Hotspur secured their third consecutive UEFA Europa League victory with a narrow 1-0 win over Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. The game’s lone goal came from Richarlison in the 53rd minute, marking the Brazilian’s first goal of the season after a challenging period with injuries.
Following the match, Tottenham’s James Maddison showered praise on young talent Mikey Moore. Speaking to TNT Sports, he commented, “From minute 45 to 65, I thought we had Neymar on the left wing! (Moore) was brilliant. Demanded the ball, fearless. That young, fearless mentality—you never want to take that away from him. He’s a young kid, a brilliant lad. He’s a lovely boy, takes on information, and he has bags of ability. I’ll be there as an older player, hopefully with some wise words, to help him along the way. He has all the ability. It’s about knuckling down and working hard, which he does, to be fair to him.”
Tottenham now sits second in their Europa League group with a goal difference of +5. This marks the first time in a decade that the club has opened a European campaign with three straight wins and the fifth time in their history. They have also won their last four home games, matching their longest winning streak under manager Ange Postecoglou, previously achieved in October 2023 and January 2024, as they move past early-season struggles.
