Anisimova Ends Gauff’s China Open Run, Books Final Spot Against Nosková

Updated: Oct 5, 2025

Coco Gauff’s hopes of winning back-to-back China Open titles and her dream of a first this year came to an end after a semi-final loss to Amanda Anisimova. The American delivered a standout performance to defeat Gauff and book her place in Sunday’s final.

This marks Anisimova’s second WTA 1000 final of the season and the fifth final this year including Wimbledon and the US Open , her only title came at the Qatar Open. She’ll aim to move past those runner-up finishes and win another trophy when she faces Linda Nosková in the final.

Speaking after the match, Anisimova said:

“I was just excited to play here in my first semifinal. I was able to put on a really good performance, and I knew I was going to have to play very well against Coco if I wanted to get the win and yeah, I’m really excited to be in the final.”

Regardless of the outcome of the final , Anisimova is set to climb to a career high, the number four spot in the WTA rankings on Monday.
