Al Ahly Submit Formal Request to CAF for Structural Reforms

Al Ahly have submitted a formal letter to CAF calling for comprehensive reforms following their 1–1 draw against AS FAR in Morocco on Champions League matchday two, a match in which the club felt several issues compromised fairness and proper match management.

In their letter, Al Ahly outlined key demands, including the implementation of full safety procedures before every fixture to ensure proper organization befitting the status of African football. They also called for the application of VAR in all Champions League matches to guarantee fairness, the assignment of elite and highly rated referees to high stakes fixtures across the continent and strict enforcement of CAF regulations to uphold equal opportunities for all participating clubs.

CAF has not yet responded to Al Ahly’s demands, but the club believes these reforms are essential for the growth and integrity of African football. Given Al Ahly’s stature as twelve time Champions League winners, the pressure for meaningful change is expected to intensify.
